Jennifer Baichwal

Jennifer Baichwal was born in Montréal and grew up in Victoria, British Columbia. The award-winning filmmaker specializes in documentaries on artists: her first feature documentary “Let it Come Down: The Life of Paul Bowles” (1998) won an International Emmy for Best Arts Documentary in 1999, a Best Biography at Hot Docs and was broadcast internationally. Other past projects include “The Holier It Gets” (Best Independent Canadian Film and Best Cultural Documentary, Hot Docs, 2000) and “The True Meaning of Pictures”, a feature documentary on the work of Appalachian photographer, Shelby Lee Adams (Gemini Award for Best Arts Documentary, 2003).


Her documentary “Manufactured Landscapes” has won many awards, including the Best Canadian Film Prize at the Toronto International Film Festival/ Toronto Film Critics Association.
